Amazon’s FBA New Selection Program (2026) offers real fee relief for sellers launching new products – but there’s a hard deadline coming up, and the eligibility rules are narrower than a lot of the buzz around it suggests. Here’s what the program actually covers, who genuinely qualifies, and what happens if you miss the October 31, 2026 cutoff.
What the New Selection Program Offers
For qualifying ASINs listed on or after July 30, 2026, Amazon is offering:
- Referral fee credits: your referral fee is capped at 10% (or your category’s normal rate, whichever is lower) on the first 100 units sold, and 5% on units 101-200. Credits apply automatically at checkout, no claim needed.
- 120 days of storage and returns waivers: free monthly storage, free customer return processing, and free liquidation fees on the first 200 units, counted from the inventory receipt date.
- Promotional credits: $50 in coupon fee credits and $75 in Vine enrollment fee credits, both usable within the first 60 days.
- A Vine Pre-launch extension: using Amazon Vine’s pre-launch service extends the whole benefit window by 45 days, to 165 days total.
Who Actually Qualifies (Read This Before You Get Excited)
The eligibility rules are stricter than a “new product” program might suggest, and they matter a lot for wholesale buyers specifically:
- The ASIN must be under a brand enrolled in Amazon Brand Registry – and it has to be your brand registration, not just a brand you’re authorized to resell.
- The ASIN must be genuinely new-to-FBA: no prior FBA inventory history under any seller, ever. If you’re reselling an already-established, already-listed product (which is how most wholesale purchasing for Amazon works), that ASIN almost certainly doesn’t qualify – it already has FBA history.
- A trailing 6-month IPI score of 300 or higher (or no assigned score yet).
- The product must be listed on or after July 30, 2026, and not fall into certain restricted categories.
In plain terms: this program is built for private-label sellers and brand-registered distributors launching a genuinely new SKU – not for the classic wholesale-resale model of sourcing an existing, already-listed brand-name product in bulk. If your business is mostly buying established products wholesale to resell under their existing listings, this specific program likely won’t apply to most of your catalog. See our private label vs. wholesale purchasing comparison if you’re weighing whether to add a private-label line alongside wholesale sourcing.
The October 31, 2026 Deadline
If you’re already enrolled in the prior version of this program, your 2026 benefits have been applying automatically to qualifying launches. But Amazon has set October 31, 2026 as the deadline to confirm enrollment in the “New Selection Program (2026)” through Seller Central (look for the enrollment page under your seller account) in order to keep receiving these benefits on ASINs you list after that date. Miss it, and future qualifying launches won’t get the fee credits or waivers, even if you were enrolled before.
If you do have unused coupon or Vine promotional credit balances tied to the prior program, they’re generally use-it-or-lose-it against this same window, so it’s worth checking your balances in Seller Central rather than assuming they carry forward indefinitely.
If You’re Considering a Private-Label Line
Where this program is genuinely useful for our customers is if you’re planning to launch your own private-label product alongside your wholesale purchasing – the reduced referral fees and storage waivers on the first 200 units can meaningfully lower the cost of testing a new SKU during Q4. If that’s on your radar, our Q4 2026 prep checklist and IPI score and FBA capacity guide cover the inventory-planning side of launching or restocking before the holiday season.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the New Selection Program apply to wholesale-sourced products I’m already reselling?
Generally no. The program requires the ASIN to be new-to-FBA with no prior inventory history under any seller, and registered under your own Brand Registry. Most wholesale resale involves already-listed, already-established ASINs, which don’t meet either requirement.
What happens if I miss the October 31, 2026 deadline?
Based on current reporting, sellers who don’t confirm enrollment by that date won’t receive New Selection Program benefits on ASINs listed after October 31, even if they were previously enrolled.
Do I need Brand Registry to qualify?
Yes – the ASIN’s parent brand must be enrolled in Amazon Brand Registry under your account for the listing to qualify.
What is the IPI score requirement?
Reporting indicates a trailing 6-month Inventory Performance Index (IPI) score of 300 or higher is required, or no assigned IPI score yet (typically the case for newer accounts).
